CRAIL
GOLFING SOCIETY
The
royal burgh also hosts the world's 7th oldest established golf club.
Club members and guests have
been enjoying some of the finest links golf in Scotland - many say the
world - since 1786.
Golfing legend Old Tom Morris
laid out the original nine holes at Balcomie in 1895 and in 1998 a second
course, Craighead Links, was opened for play, providing a worthy alternative
to its famous and historic neighbour.
DID YOU KNOW?
The use of the first metal cups are credited to the
Honorable Gentlemen of Crail Golfing Society, who used round biscuit tins
for supporting the sides of the cup.
Kingsbarns
Golf Links
Challenging yet playable and opening anew
in July 2000, Kingsbarns Golf Links is a tribute to its Scottish links
heritage with all 18 holes offering majestic vistas of the sea surging
against the rock skerries of the foreshore.
